Chelsea are close to signing PSG striker Sandy Baltimore

Chelsea are expected to sign French striker Sandy Baltimore from Paris Saint-Germain on a four-year deal, subject to a medical.

The 24-year-old’s contract with PSG is expiring and she is moving to the Women’s Super League champions on a free transfer.

BBC Sport has learned that Baltimore will take up a role in Chelsea’s squad, acting as a backup to Sam Kerr while the Australian striker recovers from a knee injury.

Baltimore will field a full offensive line at Kingsmeadow with Catarina Macario, Mia Fishel, Mayra Ramirez and Aggie Beever-Jones.

She will be the first permanent signing for new Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor, who arrived from Lyon to replace Emma Hayes.

Baltimore scored seven goals in 18 appearances in the French top division last season — PSG finished second behind Bompastor’s Lyon.

She has played 28 international matches for France and was part of the team’s squad for Euro 2022, but was not selected for the 2023 World Cup.
