Hardik Pandya is the first Indian to top the ICC T20I all-rounder rankings

Dubai: Hardik Pandya rose two places after his performance in the just-concluded World Cup and became the first Indian to top the ICC’s T20I all-rounder rankings.
The 30-year-old, who dealt South Africa a crushing blow in the World Cup final by dismissing half-centuries Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller in his 3/20 performance, climbed two places to draw level with Sri Lankan star Wanindu Hasaranga as the highest-ranked male T20I all-rounder.
After a turbulent IPL in which he was booed by fans as the new captain of the Mumbai Indians, Pandya turned things around at the T20 World Cup in the USA and the Caribbean.
Pandya made impressive cameos with the bat and made breakthroughs with the ball when the team needed him. He finished the tournament with 144 runs at a batting strike rate of over 150 and also took 11 wickets.
His best performance came in the final, when he triggered a dramatic collapse of the South Africans after the Proteas needed 30 runs from 30 balls with Klaasen on the run.
Pandya provided the decisive breakthrough by removing Klaasen with the first ball of the 17th over. He then bowled the thrilling final over, defending 15 runs as India beat South Africa by seven runs to win their second T20 World Cup title.
India’s star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who was named player of the tournament for his 15 wickets, moved up 12 places and is now just outside the top 10. He is ranked 12th, his highest position since late 2020.
There were further changes in the top 10 all-rounder rankings: Marcus Stoinis, Sikandar Raza, Shakib Al Hasan and Liam Livingstone each rose one place.
Mohammad Nabi slipped four places and left the top five.
In the bowling rankings, South African Anrich Nortje moved up seven places to second place (his best result so far), and is now just behind leader Adil Rashid with 675 rating points.
