The Indian national cricket team will land in New Delhi in the early hours of June 4 following their victory in the T20 World Cup in Barbados. India defeated South Africa in the final at the Kensington Oval last week to secure their second T20 World Cup title, their first in 17 years. The Indian players and staff have been stranded in Barbados for the past few days due to a hurricane storm in the Caribbean islands. However, the entire team will return home on Thursday on a special flight organised by the BCCI.

The special Air India charter flight, named AIC24WC — Air India Champions 24 World Cup — took off at 4:50 am local time on Wednesday, carrying the Indian players and support staff.

The special flight is scheduled to land in the country’s capital New Delhi at around 6:20 am (IST) on Thursday. The flight was originally scheduled to depart at around 6:00 pm local time on July 2 and arrive at 7:45 pm (IST). However, the flight was delayed as the Air India plane landed late in Barbados.

After landing in India, the players and staff will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at 9:30 a.m. The ceremony is expected to last several hours. The entire team will then depart for Mumbai on another charter flight.

According to a report in India todayThe players and support staff will head to the Wankhede Stadium after arriving in Mumbai.

It has been confirmed that there will be an open bus parade on Thursday from 5:00 pm IST.

The report added that an award ceremony will be held at the Wankhede Stadium, where the Indian captain Rohit Sharma The trophy will be handed over to BCCI Secretary Jay Shah. The trophy will remain at the BCCI headquarters for the next two years.

On Thursday evening, the players will then head to their respective home towns.

A report in Dainik Jagran claimed that the open-top bus parade would be held on Friday instead of Thursday as the long flight from Barbados to Delhi and the felicitation ceremony could tire the players.
