Sabalenka proved in January that she is not a “one-slam wonder”.

Her second consecutive Australian Open win, which she achieved without dropping a set, showed that she had overcome the inconsistencies that had hampered her early career.

She came close to reaching a Wimbledon final in her last two appearances, but lost one-set leads to Karolina Pliskova and Jabeur in 2021 and 2023 respectively.

Sabalenka is nicknamed “The Tiger” because of a tattoo on her left forearm. Her hard-hitting game is well suited to grass courts. However, there are question marks over her fitness — she had to retire injured for the first time in her career at the Berlin Open earlier this month due to shoulder problems.

However, Broady believes that Sabalenka “deserved her Wimbledon title”.

“Sabalenka, with her form and the way she faces the big moments, her mental strength — I think it could be Aryna’s time,” said Broady.
